little by little
I used to have this tradition of recounting all the blessings God gave me as a year-ender blog.
I like recalling the “grand” things I’ve experienced in my life… wearing a lot of medals every recognition day, graduating with Latin honors, going on my first solo trip abroad, quitting my full-time advertising job to work independently with clients, and all that. (You might even see a blog or two about one of these.)
Even my prayers have consistently been about wanting bigger adventures, more projects, financial increase, for God to use me in a greater way. A propensity to just want more.
We often forget that the more could be an accumulation of littles:
Little steps becoming habits that turn into systems that lets my creativity and my business thrive.
Little ripples of courage turning into waves of pursuing things outside my comfort zone.
Little cracks illuminating over parts of my heart that need God’s touch.
I’ve taken my share of leaps of faith. Yet I’ve also seen how God sees and honors even the little steps we make towards Him.
Consistency > intensity.
I try to exercise more often and doing it every other day feels way better than trying to squeeze everything in in one session. I’m still in the process of embracing this… Yes, I can take leaps, but the steps after it are just as necessary.
Proverbs 30:25 even exhorts:
“The ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer;”
I have much to learn from ants. Most of them probably don’t know how to leap… yet in their little consistent steps, they can store up food for the whole colony to survive on rainy days. (The Bug’s Life is one of my favorite movies growing up).
I’m writing this for anyone who, just like me, is always looking for the more. Yes, God can do that… But let’s not forget the little.
