empowering compassion
Free food.
It sounds so simple, yet it has a big impact especially on the lives of the underprivileged. Malnutrition and hunger are very common in a third world country, so receiving free food becomes nothing short of a miracle. A simple meal turns into a window where hope, joy, and love can shine through.
That’s what Compassionate Community Kitchen is all about. A project initiated by The Ruth Foundation, they’re on a mission to help serve hope and compassion to those in need—kids and teenagers battling cancer, bed-ridden palliative care patients, and the elderly aged 80 and above. Bahay Kalinga, CHILD Haus, House of Somang, Mary Mother of Mercy, Shelter of Hope, Ospital ng Muntinlupa, The Ruth Foundation, and the elders in Brgy. Munting Ilong are just some of the organizations and communities that are regular recipients of CCK’s free meals.
For almost a year now, I’ve had the privilege of helping CCK create and write their social media content. Through this opportunity, I realized that design can really make a difference in someone’s life, albeit indirectly. This ongoing project showed me that meaningful and impactful work is possible for creative professionals like me. For someone who constantly thinks about “what good is this for,” “who am I serving,” “what change will this result in,” it’s refreshing to work with something beyond profit.
Now, I have this new desire to keep working on projects or with clients like them.
If you want to take part in what God is doing with CCK, they are open for volunteers and sponsorships! You can volunteer for food preparations and distributions. You also have the option to order the meals they serve wherein 100% of net proceeds go to supporting beneficiaries. To know more details about this initiative, send an e-mail to cck@ruth.ph. If you’re a social enterprise or a non-profit organization looking for help with your social media content or your visual identity, please send me an e-mail via hello@gratefullycreating.com so we can talk about it!
